Owen County Lower Elementary Student & Parent Letter

Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year!  We are looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday, August 16th, for an exciting, fun-filled year of learning!  As you may be aware, the lower elementary building is under renovation.  Due to ongoing construction and limited parking, there are a few changes.

For your convenience, start times for kindergarten and first grade students will be staggered on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 16th.

1st Grade

Parents of first grade students who wish to walk their children to class and meet the teacher should park at the lower elementary school and report at the regular time (8:00 A.M.).

Kindergarten

Parents of kindergarten students who wish to walk their children to class and meet the teacher should park at the lower elementary school and report at 9:00 A.M.  The adjusted schedule will allow kindergarten parents more convenience for parking and allow them time to visit the school.

PLEASE NOTE:  This change is only for kindergarten parents who wish to walk their children to the classroom.  It does not affect the bus schedule and is only for the first day of school, Wednesday, August 16th

Drop Off and Pick Up

The second change, for this school year, is for parents who drop-off and pick-up their children each day.  Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, car rider drop-off and pick-up will take place at the Owenton Church of Christ.  The church is located next to the school at the corner of Old Monterey Road and Highway 22.  A bus will be available from 7:40-8:00 am for all morning drop-offs.  In the afternoon, parents may pick up their child at the church at 3:10 pm. This will be the designated car rider drop-off and pick-up for the school year and will help to alleviate traffic congestion at the lower elementary school.

We ask for your patience and flexibility throughout the year as renovations continue and we build a brighter future for our children.
