Family Night Book Fair -- Tuesday Night 3-16-2010 @ 5:00-7:00

Brochures

The Book Fair Brochures show only a few of the book titles for sale and there are always so many more books for sale at the fair.  Most of the books range in prices from $4.00 to $5.00, bookmarks .45 cents, and posters $4.50.

Coloring Contest

Each classroom participates in a coloring contest.  Students only compete against students in their class.  Winners are invited to preview the book fair before the other students.  Each winner is allowed to select a paperback book as their prize for winning the coloring contest.

Family Night

Tuesday Night of the Book Fair Week is Family Night and it is always a huge success.  Parents are welcome to come with their son or daughter during the day but having the opening hours of 5-7 allows for more flexibility.  Offering evening hours is an excellent chance to bring families and reading activities together.  The Family Night Book Fair is a wonderful opportunity for parents to attend the fair with their children and discover that READING IS FUN.

The Wish List Program is an excellent way for teacher's to increase their classroom libraries.  Many teachers have a program where students check out books from the classroom called "bag buddies."  The students are very excited to check out a book that has a gift tag on the inside cover showing the book was donated by ________ and the blank has their name on it.

OCPS will participate in One for Books this fall.

Our school will be collecting coins for the Scholastic Book Fairs One for Books program.

All of the coins collected go to purchase new books for our library.

The class with the most coin collections will win --

Destination:  Primary Paradise Picnic, which is a picnic lunch in the library with Principal, Sharen Hubbard.

The amount we collect is matched by Scholastic with their donation to national non-profit organizations:

Marine Toys for Tots Foundations, Kids in Distressed Situations, and the National Center for Family Literacy.

Students will collect coins in their paper bags and contribute to the classroom total.

Coins will be collected Thursday, September 24 and Friday, September 25.

The winning classroom was announced on Monday, September 28, 2009
