Dual Enrollment Informational Meeting

All parents and students involved in OCHS Dual Enrollment classes: As you may know, the state has changed the way money is distributed to schools for use in dual enrollment classes. This is going to have a slight impact on what students are required to pay to be enrolled in these dual enrollment classes this fall.

The administration of OCHS and the Owen County Schools have worked to make the impact of these changes as minimal as possible. We would like to explain these changes and their impact at a meeting with parents and students who are taking dual enrollment classes. This meeting will be held on Monday, August 1st at 6:00pm at the OCHS auditorium. Please make plans to attend; we will discuss the cost of dual enrollment classes, the use of the new state dual enrollment scholarship and how you can benefit from taking dual enrollment classes before you graduate from high school.

We hope to see students and parents on Monday, August 1st at 6:00pm!

ICE and SNOW STAY AWAY!

The current last day of school is Thursday, May 26th.  That is, if school does not have to be closed any more for inclement weather.  Should school have to be closed for three days or more between now and Spring Break, then the first two days (April 4 & 5) of the planned Spring Break will be used to make up the missed days.  Hopefully, we will miss no more days!

Update for OCHS Students on the Beginning of the 2016-17 School Year

A couple of reminders and updates for students as we begin our new school year:

1. Please remember that students need to abide by the Owen County Schools dress code, including no hat wearing in the building;

2. Beginning this fall, students will NOT be allowed to use earbuds or headphones of any kind unless a teacher issues them for use on an assignment. This includes time spent in the hallway or the cafeteria during the school day. This guideline is in place for because school staff need to be able to communicate with students at all times, and so that students may be kept safe more easily.

3. For students who bring in drinks and food to the school in the morning, all food and drink must be consumed before you leave the cafeteria in the morning. No outside drink cups are allowed in the building. Students may purchase water, juice and diet soft drinks in the building.

We appreciate your cooperation as we begin the 2016-17 school year.

Proudly Proficient and High Growth!!! OCHS Proficient and High Growth

OCHS has attained for the first time the status of Proficent School, and in the process became a High Growth School, landing in the top 10% of high schools in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in terms of growth in the number of points earned on the state's accountability system in the 2014-15 school year.

OCHS grew from 62.6 points in the 2013-14 school year to 71.2 point in the 2014-15 accountability cycle, which met the standards for proficiency and high growth.  We are proud of our students and our teachers, whose work each and every day made this progress possible!

Thanks to parents and our school community for the great support you have given our students and faculty...we look forward to accomplishing more great things in the future!  Our goal next year is to become a Distinguished School!  Please help us achieve our goal of making every enrolled student a College and Career Ready Graduate!

February 15th is now a school day

Because of the number of days missed due to snow, February 15th will now be used as a weather make-up day.  We look forward to seeing your students on February 15th!
