FRYSC Mission Statement

To enhance students’ ability to succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote:

  • Early learning and successful transition to school;

  • Academic achievement and well-being; and 

  • Graduation and transition into adult life.

 FRYSC Vision

The Kentucky Division of Family Resource and Youth Services Centers in the Cabinet for Health and Family Services shall establish the national standard of excellence in the provision of school-based family support.

 Family Crisis Mental Health Counseling

  • Sponsor MBMS and OCHS Peer Helper Programs

  • Refer students to mental health services

  • Sponsor Girl Power Club at OCHS

  • Assist in implementing Suicide Prevention Programs at MBMS and OCHS

  • Assist in implanting Resiliency Poll at OCHS and MBMS

  • Work with students in immediate danger to themselves or others to get the help they need

  • Partner with local mental health agencies to provide QUALITY care to families and students

  • Girls on the Run Program

  • Sources of Strength Program 

 Health Services or Referrals to Health Services

  • Provide basic needs services to promote a healthy life for students

  • Assist students in finding a doctor for basic health care needs

  • Assist students needing basic clothing and hygiene needs

  •  Facilitate and organize Power Pack Program 

  • All 5th grade students participate in Recipe for Life Program

  • Operate Rebel Marketplace Food Pantry monthly for any MBMS or OCHS family

 Career Exploration and Development 

  • MBMS students will have opportunity to serve at Legislative pages

  • Organize college and career field trips for MBMS and OCHS students 

  • Chaperone college fair field trip

  • Assist OCHS students with professional binders that include resume writing, interview skills, and proper attire

  • Assist with- FAFSA nights, College Application Day, and Seal the Deal College Signing Day at OCHS

 Community Involvement

  • Sponsor and organize  Back-to-School Bash for students and families

  • Collaborate and implement Holiday Assistance program

  • Refer families and students to local community resources

  • Provide enrichment programs for students and families

  • Coordinate local commodity food program

The Meetings will be held at the Owen County Youth Services Center at OCHS  from 12:00-1:00. Lunch will be provided.   Any parent/guardian of students attending Maurice Bowling Middle School or Owen County High School are invited to attend!

Youth Services Center FreeStore Food Bank Pantry

Participation requirements are regulated by the Free Store Food Bank School Pantry.  The requirements include that at least one student living in the household must be enrolled in either the Maurice Bowling Middle School or the Owen County High School, however, food will be provided for everyone living in the household.
