In Owen County Schools, we recognize the importance of reducing passive screen time while also ensuring our students are using technology appropriately to meet state standards. As part of our district's strategic plan, as well as our focus on engaged and aligned instruction in our classrooms, we will be making a change to our District Technology Usage Guidance.
Devices will be available in every classroom to support intentional and meaningful learning experiences rather than assigning devices to each student (except for OCHS dual credit or credit recovery students). As a reminder, dual credit students will be issued Chromebooks during Open House as this is how our post-secondary partners deliver instruction.

After traveling the toads this morning and observing the road conditions from the weather overnight, Owen County Schools will not hold in-person classes on Tuesday, December 2nd. This will be NTI Day #1. Be Safe and Stay Warm!
After traveling the toads this morning and observing the road conditions from the weather overnight, Owen County Schools will not hold in-person classes on Tuesday, December 2nd. This will be NTI Day #1. Be Safe and Stay Warm!
Attached is the updated school calendar, reflecting all snow day cancellations up to this point. Please note a specific change approved by the Board of Education for Friday, March 14th. The original calendar listed Friday, March 14th as a "Planning Day" for staff, however, that day is now an instructional day with students.
As of now, the last day of school for students is Friday, May 30th and the last day for staff is Tuesday, June 3rd.
Please keep in mind that the calendar is subject to change due to various reasons, including weather, illness, or unforeseen issues that would prevent the district from operating. Also, there is legislation being considered that may have an impact on the school calendar. We will continue to update you on any further adjustments made by the Board.
It's hard to believe that we are looking ahead to the next school year. However, attached to this post you will find the approved 2025-26 school calendar. Please make note of these important dates as you plan ahead.
With January 10th being a traditional snow day, please see the updated calendar for the remainder of the 2024-2025 School Year!

You must have a 3.0 GPA through your Sophomore year, have held or currently hold TWO LEADERSHIP ROLES within the past two years in school, community, or religious sponsored organizations.
